If available, sewer connections are required. According to Bella Vista city ordinance (Ord. No. 2009-03), if your property is currently connected to a septic tank and sanitary sewer service is available, the property owner is responsible for connecting to the service line provided at the tap-in point on their lot of on the adjoining lot. This requirement applies only upon the sale or transfer of ownership of the property and must be completed within 90 days after the sale or transfer. The connection to the sewer service must be completed at the owner’s expense (either the buyer, seller or a combination of both).

The cost to connect to sewer will depend on the plumber who does the installation. There is a hard cost of $1200 for the tap-in fee. This must be made payable to Village Wastewater when the plot plan is submitted for approval. This tap-in fee is due within 60 days of the closing date for existing properties and nonrefundable after 6 months for new construction.

The plumber does not need a permit from the city to attach to the sewer. Once installation is complete, the plumber must call Village Waste Water for inspection. Certificates of Occupancy will not be issued prior to a passing inspection.
