A man residing in Iowa has been arrested on child pornography charges out of Bella Vista.

Jay Lloyd Harris, 45, was arrested in Sac City, Iowa in connection with possession of child pornography, a Class C felony.

On April 7, Bella Vista Police took a report of terroristic threats, said Lt. Barb Shrum. Harris was arrested by Bella Vista Police for terroristic threatening and third degree assault, both misdemeanors. During that investigation, a victim disclosed that there had been suspected child pornography located on a computer Harris owned.

Shrum obtained a search warrant for the home, and later for the electronics seized in the search, and recently received the forensic information back from Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC).

Shrum said ICAC found “1,181 unique illegal child abuse images on two laptops and an external hard drive.”

A warrant was issued for Harris’ arrest, who had relocated to Sac City, Iowa after his April arrest. After working with local officials there, Harris was arrested and is awaiting extradition. He was charged with distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
